About Communion at Abiding Savior
We believe, in accord with the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions, that the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion is a sacrament in which our Lord offers to us His true body and blood. It is really present, not because we believe it, but because Jesus said, “This is My Body, and this is My blood.
With this precious gift, our Lord offers to us the forgiveness of our sins, and the assurance that He is truly present with us to extend the gift of salvation to all who believe. The blessings of this sacrament can only be received by faith, so we believe that those who do not recognize what Christ offers here should not receive it.
If you have questions or concerns about the nature of this sacrament, please speak to the Pastor before coming forward to receive this precious gift. Children and those not yet instructed in the true nature of this sacrament are invited to come forward, cross their arms, and receive a blessing. Please refer to 1 Corinthians 11:23-30 for St. Paul’s instructions concerning this sacrament.
