Date: Saturday, 9/20/25, 8am-5pm

To maximize the experience for everyone and minimize the administrative strain, we ask that all participants commit to the full day of serving.

Purpose: An annual one-day servant event that:

  1. Shows Christian love and care for our neighbors

  2. Build relationships within our neighbors in our community and within our congregation

  3. Inspire and teach our members to grow in their servant hearts and stretch their ability to share God’s Good News

  4. Celebrate the work that God does that day through devotion, singing, and sharing

Who Can Participate:

  • Anyone who is part of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and School

  • Children as young as Kindergarten may participate.

  • Students who are 12 years old or under must be on a team with a parent or guardian.

Cost:

  • There is no charge to participate in Care Day.  We hope to receive funding from other sources.

Registration:

Ends on Sunday, August 31, 2025, end of day.

Proposed Schedule:

7:30-8:25am - Check-in, have breakfast, and pack your lunch

8:30am - Worship

8:50am - Group picture outside

9:00am - Depart Abiding Savior for worksites

Lunch at worksite

4:00pm - Worship and Sharing

5:00pm - Day Ends

Types of Project Teams:

  • Construction, maintenance, repairs

  • Landscaping/Lawncare

  • Painting

  • Food Bank (like Feed My People)

  • Nursing Homes/Shut-In’s

  • Ministry Partner Help (Christian Friends of New Americans, South County Pregnancy Center, Bethlehem Lutheran, etc.)

  • Outreach

  • Children/Youth Activities

  • Hospitality

Needs to make this day successful:

  • Adults that will lead a team on that day (may require some effort prior to Care Day depending on the team)

  • Drivers - we need many of the participants to drive their own vehicles to get everyone to and from the worksites.  Please consider this when registering.

  • Connections - for project ideas, where to serve, funding, food, etc.

  • Coolers - we will need a minimum of one cooler per team, so if you have one we can borrow, we would love to know and then have it in hand by 9/15/25.

What can I do if I already know that I CANNOT serve that day:

  • Consider joining the CARE day prayer team that will pray for this event and its participants from now until after the event day.

  • There’s plenty to do between now and September 20th that you might be able to help with

  • If you are a Thrivent member, talk to Kathy Arnold about using one or two of your annual Thrivent Action Grants for this servant event.  This is exactly the type of project they like to fund.
